The Master Bedroom Makeover

Master-Bedroom-Makeover_erena-te-paa

I  f you’ve been following my posts for the last little while you might have seen some developments on the home front.

You won’t have seen paint flying but I can assure you it was and you won’t have seen the ideas whirring but ohhh how they have been, since March of last year (and even before then).

Life is funny isn’t it? We find a place to call our own and then we say we’ll never leave and then something far from perfect comes along and we want to call that ‘the dream‘ because it has a certain something that calls us to it and tells us that it could be really great, one day.

Well that was us and that was how we came to be here, picking up paint brushes yet again.  Only this time we had a newborn baby on our hands and far less time for ‘dreaming’ and yet still we dreamt….

There is so much more to this story and this house but I’ll save that for another night because heck, I’m tired and I’m sure that what you really came for tonight was the pretty pictures, the where from’s and the what next’s….Am I right?

So here we go in as few words as possible….because tired much!

Bedside stool and bed frame are from Trade Me; Light shade is by ViweiRust couch candy throw is by Heart From Hazel

Art print is by Samantha Totty; Table lamp and drawers were both Trade Me finds.

Cane dresser is Trade Me. Also features bowl by Wundaire and my faave silk tassel earrings by Ore Design

Small fan palm and stool (painted in Resene Grain Brown) from Trade Me. The Tuscany straw hat is by Lack of Colorand my all-time fave sand linen Kimono jacket is by Blackbird Goods

Mustard velvet ottoman from Moi on George The pendant is the white Alienor pendant by Paris au mois d’aout

Master_Bedroom_Reveal_mirror

The leaning mirror was custom made. I came up with the design and had it made. I took my idea and plywood to a local routerer to cut the backing and then transported that to a glass supplier to cut, shape and fit the mirror. I’d suggest using local suppliers for ease of transport!

The chair is secondhand from Trade Me and the pipe for the clothes rack was custom-made by a lovely guy, also on TM who makes furniture out of industrial pipes

Bedroom-makeover-Mark-antonia

The vase is by Rachel Saunders; the dried flower arrangement is by Mark Antonia; the incense burner is from Tessuti and the hand thrown vase was a Trade Me find. The hat just in shot is The Joplin by Lack of Color.

Ceramic clothes hooks are by Renee Boyd Ceramics purchased from Paper Plane Store. The bag is by Jade & Gems (they have a Trade Me store and an online one). The stool was a Trade Me find (originally from Tessuti, apparently).

The walls are painted in Resene Black White and the floor is painted in Resene Eighth Joss (best described as a milky beige)

And there it is! Our new master bedroom that once was a lounge. Again, there is much to explain like the fact that one day (far far from now) this won’t be our bedroom and will be a lounge once more but quite frankly this space feels like it was always meant to be this light and this peaceful so we’ll enjoy it for years to come just as it is.

And as for what it was, I am loathe to show you (the colours and the mess, sorry). We’d only just moved in, everything was everywhere and it felt like we were camping. But if you’re wanting before’s and after’s here they are… (here’s hoping you can slide back and forth to see the contrast).

Also while some things are investment pieces, others are Trade Me bargains hence why I still champion Trade Me for buying, selling and for softening the blow in order to commit to those bigger purchases!

As for where to from here…onto another makeover of course.

I still have a lounge, kitchen, office and goodness knows what else so expect to see some more from me over the coming months…

As for any questions (because I may have missed some things) , just get in touch either here, there or anywhere!

This is incredible, you totally had amazing vision to create something this magic

  3. Thank you lovely! Haha when you are stuck inside your ‘dream do-er upper’ for 15 months with a baby (now toddler) there is a lot of ‘visualising’ going on – I think this is thanks to that!! xx

  4. It’s the best kind of white right Lorena! Haha also how good are ‘the renovated parts’ of homes (like little escape pods from the realities of the unrenovated parts!). Hand on heart am proud to have finished this room, I just hope I have the momentum to keep going xx

  5. Wow, what an amazing transformation. I love a good ‘before/after’ shot! Window treatments are perfection! Hope you’re enjoying your new space.

  6. Ange so sorry for the delayed reply! A month or so on and it feels so strange to think that there was a ‘before’ so I guess that answers your second sentence 🙂 but yes absolutely!!
