I wrote this while doing a little reflecting and I’ve been reciting it back to myself each night as my mantra for the new year. Here’s to staying the course and loving what you’re ALL about in 2016…
You are your best self
You are your worst critic
You are your biggest fan
You are your worst enemy
When you look left and right pitting your feats against another, as if to find a benchmark in someone else’s achievements, you do yourself a great injustice.
Never mind about what anyone else is doing and never mind about what everyone else has done.
What you lack is not what they have but what you don’t yet see within yourself.
It’s already there.
You have everything you need to be great.
No one can be you they can try but they will never be more than the sum of all that you are.
So when you next find yourself at a crossroads wondering whose soul to use as a benchmark for what your life should look like or be, don’t look anywhere but within.
Where they’re going is not where you need to be.
Where you’re going and what you’re doing is far more beneficial to your life than anyone else could ever know or understand.
You have a ship to steer, a boat to sail.
An internal compass to listen to and be guided by.
As for me, I am no one’s competition and no one is mine.
I am simply trying to be a better me than the me I was yesterday.
I am a threat to no one but myself.
Tomorrow I desire to be an even more complete and whole person than the person I am today.
Honest with my yes’s and kind with my no’s.
Holding true to my beliefs and expanding my horizons.
You do not want to be me nor I you.
A new year means a chance for you to thrive within yourself.
To be less like the someone you think you need to be and more like the person you are.
Happy New Year.
Now, let’s see what you can do.
