Our Home: The Master Bedroom

Our master bedroom was once a gloomy space…

But with the addition of a few key pieces most of which were upcycled, it is now a much happier place to sleep and dream in.

Do not underestimate the effect of a great throw cushion to update a tired space.

If you can’t find cushions you like consider having them made. Most people know someone who knows someone that can sew or if that someone is you then try making them yourself.

muslin cloth curtains

Muslin cloth is my not-so-secret way to add fullness and depth to curtains without the hefty price tag of buying new ones. I simply sewed together sections of muslin cloth then hand-stitched those sections on to my existing curtains.

Make sure to overlock or zig-zag stitch the edges to stop them from fraying and to keep them looking classy!

Master Bedroom Reveal

Anglepoise lamps are a good choice for a bedside light.

They look great and can be picked up relatively cheaply online. They’re also adjustable which is important for when you’re up at 2am and still reading you’re ipad.

The only splurge in this room was the artwork which I found on Etsy.

Next week I’ll be posting pictures of our bathroom which was kitted out rather inexpensively so you may find some tips and ideas in there as well.

P.S  If you noticed a cot in the pictures, it’s simply because I took these images when the bedroom was looking it’s tidiest and before everything happened :-/
