Pregnancy: On the home stretch

My belly has a new nickname crumb-catcher.  It seems like such a short time ago that I was sporting a small if not insignificant bump and now my new normal is not being able to see my feet and having to find new ways of doing normal things.

Things like getting out of bed, putting my shoes on or just picking things up off the floor are now executed with expert precision and care so as not to bring on an unwelcome twinge or ache.

third trimester

The third trimester is probably the most emotionally charged of the three simply because everything is heightened and more real, a kick sometimes feels like a quick succession of tiny punches, my dreams are incredibly vivid and far too embarrassing to retell and I go from feeling ginormously unappealing to feeling good about 5 times a day but other than that the excitement is there and it’s building.

third trimester

It’s crazy to think that after a decade of being just the two of us it will now become three and things, without seeming negative, will never be the same again. There will forever be someone far greater than ourselves to consider and every second of every day my thoughts and actions will revolve around their health and well-being. It’s a daunting prospect but I can’t think of anything more rewarding or important.

And I can’t think of any greater role models to emulate than our own parents.

Joe and I are notoriously bad at taking photos of ourselves as a couple so as a pre-baby treat the pictures shown here are some we had taken of us in late January by the clever and talented Danelle Bohane and what better way to document this chapter of our lives than by capturing the start of another.

On the home front I’ve been busy styling the nursery in between Nana naps and frequent trips to the pantry, so I’ll be posting photos of this very soon so stay tuned.
